On to the kitchen

Tomorrow the contractors come to set up the project and go over everything that needs to be done. Then Thursday the Great Demolition begins.

I have hated this kitchen for more or less the entire time I've lived in my condo, so more than 16 years now. I really can't express how excited I am to be getting rid of it. It'll be a month of chaos, and trying to figure out how to eat dinner, and huge amounts of dust and debris, and no space to move, but I don't care. I want the damn thing GONE.

The column on the right has to stay because it has a fuse box that's apparently attached to all the other units in my tier. But everything else is going away. To make use of the fact that the column can't be removed, we're having that space walled in so I can finally have a pantry. This means I will no longer have to go food shopping every damn day. The sink is moving to the island, as is my new super silent dishwasher. New cabinets, new fridge, new stove and microwave, new floors, new lighting...it's all going to be new and shiny and no longer a relic of the 80s. Into the future, hated kitchen!

Tomorrow I will post some closeups of the causes of all this hateration.

  1. Pantry - Yay! You are keeping the island, instead of wrapping around in an "L"? so with the sink on the island, extra special cupboards all the way to the ceiling on the wall? Which cupboards did you get at IKEA? I can't wait to see it finished, sounds cool! And I can't decide what color to paint the living room! :)
As for food, don't you live within 3 blocks of something like 4,659 restaurants of all available food types? :0 HA! Good luck - COVER EVERYTHING. Sheetrock dust sucks. But - I'm so buying myself a sawzall......
